Nautomation Prime Academy
Free Cisco network automation education. No account, no paywall.
The Nautomation Prime Academy¶
The Academy is everything Nautomation Prime publishes for free: tutorials from your first script to expert patterns, a seven-chapter capstone project, the production-grade principles and standards we assess against, and line-by-line deep dives into real tools. It is organised by who you are, not by topic.
- 100% free, no account or paywall
- CC-BY 4.0 licensed learning content
- Every line of code explained
Three tracks¶
-
Learn¶
For a network engineer who wants to write Python. Beginner tutorials, intermediate techniques, the Capstone, then expert patterns, in that order.
-
Govern¶
For a team lead or architect who already has automation and has to make it safe. Production-grade principles, a coded control catalogue, reference architectures, and governed AI.
-
See it done¶
For someone deciding whether to hire. Deep dives into finished tools, the PRIME Framework that governs delivery, and the services built on both.
Licensing at a glance¶
All Academy tutorials, deep dives, and guides are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC-BY): you can copy, adapt, and reuse them, including commercially, provided you credit Nautomation Prime. Illustrative code snippets inside that content are licensed under Apache License 2.0. Full detail, including what remains proprietary (the PRIME Framework and Philosophy, and premium packaged tools sold through the Script Library), is on the Licensing page.
Looking for help for a charity?
Free and low-cost engineering for registered UK charities and CICs is offered through the Nautomation Prime Foundation, which is separate from the Academy.
Between the Lines
Simone Weil thought attention was not a technique but a moral act — “the rarest and purest form of generosity”, as she put it in a letter. She meant the kind you give another person. She also meant the kind a difficult thing demands before it will open.
That is the honest limit of everything published here. Free tutorials remove the cost of learning; they cannot remove the requirement to sit with something long enough to understand it, and that part was always going to be the valuable part. Attention is the one resource nobody can lend you more of.

Christopher is writing a book on production-grade Cisco network automation: one script, followed from twelve lines to a system that upgrades hundreds of devices, and every failure along the way. Join the list to hear when it ships and when new Academy material goes up.
