Learn¶
This track is for a network engineer who wants to write Python. You can configure Cisco devices; you've written little or no automation. Work through it in order, because each stage assumes the one before.
The path¶
-
1. Beginner¶
Your first Netmiko scripts: run a command, scale it across devices, back up configs.
-
2. Intermediate¶
One technique per page: YAML and Pydantic, Jinja2, Nornir, PyATS, credentials, logging, rollback, pre-flight checks.
-
3. Build netpipe: the Capstone¶
Seven chapters, one repository. Put the intermediate techniques in a line and make them hold: a deployment pipeline that validates, renders, deploys, proves and rolls back a real change.
-
4. Expert¶
What changes at scale: asyncio, circuit breakers, dependency ordering, vaulting, observability, incident response.
When you've finished the Capstone, the Govern track explains why the pipeline you built is shaped the way it is.

Christopher is writing a book on production-grade Cisco network automation: one script, followed from twelve lines to a system that upgrades hundreds of devices, and every failure along the way. Join the list to hear when it ships and when new Academy material goes up.
